Founder
Our founder and entrepreneur, Steve Myers has worked for some of the UK’s market leading brands during what can only be described as a successful fast track career.
Steve started his career at Thomas Cook at a time when Google were insistent upon content being the major contributor to search engine success. During this time Thomas Cook had a multi million pound PPC budget which proved to be Steve’s first challenge – how to significantly reduce PPC spend while maintaining yield.
After numerous debates and collaborations with Google, Steve soon developed an SEO strategy that was subsequently rolled out globally with huge success. Tactical processes were implemented resulting in PPC and SEO working in tandem – clearly a vision of all SEM marketers.
The next milestone in Steve’s career saw him working for the highly successful BGL Group (formly Budget Insurance) at a time when price aggregation dominated, and continues to (2009), the insurance sector.
During Myers’ stint working for the BGL Group he developed and sustained the Bennetts motorcycle insurance brand specifically developing the consumer journey, increasing channel switch from offline to online, and managing a significant online marketing budget ensuring brand and yield objectives were met.
As a digital professional Steve ensured that BGL fully maximised the very timely aggregation market launching a motorcycle brand on existing aggregators and offering user experience advice on BGL’s own price aggregation project – comparethemarket.com.
Having significantly contributed to the digital progression of travel and insurance sectors, Steve’s most recent appointment was at Bauer Media (formally EMAP). Since Bauer acquired Emap in the winter of 2008 the business soon identified a lack of digital expertise.
Steve was bought into Bauer Media to head up e-commerce at a time when regional newspapers were and are (2009) closing, advertisers are spending less and tried and trusted advertising is deemed less effective.
The remit – to provide new incremental revenue streams to a business that generates the majority of revenue from publishing an array of specialist and lifestyle titles.
Within months of joining, Bauer had two new incremental revenues stream falling under the Motorcycle News, Today’s Golfer and Parker’s titles – an insurance price comparison engine and a retail shopping comparison engine.
With a team in place operationally managing these transactional businesses Steve soon expanded his remit taking on a 2-Fore-1 Golf business, affinity businesses and challenging the way Bauer run their classified businesses online.
With P&L responsibility for seven businesses, strategy and operational excellence were and continue to come at the top of Myers’ agenda.
Steve now directs klein&klein, consults for UK businesses and is also involved in a handful of other start-up businesses. Interests include; tennis, kite surfing, polo, running, shopping and dinning.

Having worked alongside some highly talented individuals we have exceptionally high standards with our recruitment programme ongoing.
At present we have a worldwide network of resources creating a pool of talented digital minds yet delivered to our clients on a regional basis, as we appreciate how important it is to have a regional dialogue.
We are planning to open offices within the East Midlands at the start of 2010 during which time we will be filling our offices not only with highly talented digital professionals but also budding entrepreneurs, post-graduates and school leavers.
This process of knowledge sharing and personnel development is close to our hearts at klein&klein and something we plan to further expand in 2010.
